
Prof Corlia Brandt
Prof Corlia Brandt started working in private practice in 2000, whereafter she entered the academic field and obtained her Masters and PhD degrees at the University of the Free State. Her main areas of interest are Neuromusculoskeletal, Sport, Pelvic and Women`s Health, and research.
Currently she is the South African International Urogynaecology Association Physiotherapy representative and on the IUGA Africa Advisory Board; the treasurer on the International Organisation for Physiotherapists in Pelvic and Women’s Health (World Physiotherapy), chair of the Professional Development Portfolio on the National Executive Committee (SASP), President of the South African Sexual Health Association; on the editorial board for the African Journal of Primary Health Care and Family Medicine; and has chaired several congress scientific committees.
She has published several papers in international journals and has presented at international congresses - where her research has also been nominated for awards.
She has facilitated the establishment of pelvic floor units as a collaboration between academia, researchers and private practitioners. She is currently associate professor at the University of the Witwatersrand – continuing her passion for integrating research, clinical practice, and teaching – and developing Pelvic and Women`s Health clinics suitable for a South African context and as part of the WiSH research group.

Avri Spilka
Avri Spilka is the President of SASHA. She oversees SASHA related activities on a national level in conjunction with a top class team of sexual health professionals.
She is a Johannesburg-based Counselling Psychologist, and runs a private practice in Bryanston, Johannesburg, where she sees individuals, couples and throuples for sex, gender and relationship therapy. She worked for many years in the Southern African NGO sexual health sector with a focus on LGBTQIA+, consensual non-monogamies and BDSM communities. As a psychotherapist she has a special interest in sexual well-being and working with identities and relationships that fall outside the norm.
Avri has a Masters in Community Based Counselling Psychology, an Honours in Applied Social Science, a Postgraduate Diploma in Media Studies and Journalism, as well as a Diploma in Sexology, Bachelor of Journalism and Certificate in Counselling Children and Adolescents.

Dr Anthony Smith
Dr Anthony Smith is a Family Physician and Sexual Medicine Practitioner working in private practice in Cape Town. He holds a Master’s degree in Family Medicine (MFamMed) UCT and Medical Anthropology (Msc. MedAnthro) University College London.
He is an honorary Senior Lecturer in the department of Family Medicine where he teaches and lectures in Sexual Medicine, and is a Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM). He is is involved with multiple academic, clinical and educational aspects of Sexual Medicine, both regionally and nationally, notably as past National President of SASHA, a member of the task force organising the 2021 WAS Congress 2021 and as part of the current working group formulating the Post-Graduate Diploma in Sexual Medicine and HIV medicine.

Elliott Kotze
Elliott Kotze is a counselling psychologist and researcher with extensive experience in gender-affirming healthcare and queer sexual health. His work broadly focuses on improving the quality of life of queer and gender diverse folks through the strategic implementation of community-driven interventions. Elliott is based in Muizenberg, Cape Town.
He also offers research and facilitation services to organisations and larger groups.

Chant Malan
Chant Malan (they/them) is a clinical sexologist, counselling psychologist and the Gauteng Chairperson of the Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA). They have a special interest in queer sexual health, and gender, sexual, and relationship diversity.
Chant’s approach to therapy is intersectional, and they aim to create a safe, affirming and playful environment for a diverse spectrum of identities and life experiences. Chant has a Masters in Counselling Psychology, a Masters in Political and International Studies, and a Diploma in Clinical Sexology and Relationship Therapy through the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology in the UK. Their academic background means that Chant came into Psychology from a social justice context. They are passionate about education and advocacy and have presented their work on sexuality education at conferences internationally.
They are also the creator of the online course The Ace In The Hole: Working With Asexualities. Chant proudly identifies as a coffee-loving (sex) nerd. They live in Johannesburg with their three fur-children, an ever-growing pile of books and a herb garden in constant need of revival.

Dr Stephanie Roche
Dr Stephanie Roche (she/her) is a General Practitioner in private practice with a special interest in sexual and reproductive health across the lifespan. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MBChB) degree at the University of Cape Town in 2019, and obtained a postgraduate Diploma in HIV Management from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2022.
Dr Roche is a member of the South African Menopause Society and the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society. She also works for South Africa‘s first virtual menopause service Embrace, with the aim of improving access to evidence-based care to South African communities, and has completed additional training in breastfeeding and labour support (doula training). She prides herself in providing holistic, person-centred, evidence-based care, and spends her free time creating educational content for her social media account ’knickersinanot’.

Monique Koopman
Monique Koopman is a physiotherapist, based in Cape Town, with a specialization in Pelvic and Women’s Health Physiotherapy.
She works in private practice while also overseeing a government pelvic health clinic dedicated to addressing female pelvic floor and sexual dysfunction.
Additionally, Monique serves on the general executive committee of the Pelvic and Women’s Health Physiotherapy Special Interest Group of the SA Society of physiotherapy.
She is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Health at the University of Cape Town, she aspires to leverage her degree to advocate for policy changes in women’s health.

Dr Marie Pienaar
Dr Marie Pienaar is Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in private practice in Mediclinic Panorama Western Cape. She has been a part time lecturer in sexuality and sexual dysfunction at University of Stellenbosch Medical school for 20+ years.

Dr Nicole Chillimigras
Dr Nicole Chilimigras is from Johannesburg originally where they completed their undergraduate MBBCh at Wits University. They were privileged enough to be placed in rural Eastern Cape for medical internship, which was completed at Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha. After falling in love with rural medicine they decided to do rural Community Service in a Primary health care capacity, at Zithulele District Hospital. They stayed on for an extra year for learning purposes. The 2 years spent at this facility provided invaluable academic and personal growth. Dr Chili is able to converse in basic IsiXhosa with patients.
Since moving to CT in the beginning of 2021, Dr Chili has been pursuing special interests in Sexual Health, Mental Health (including Neurodivergence), Chronic and Overlapping Pain Conditions, as well as Queer Affirming health care - whether gender, sexuality, or otherwise. Chili is now part of the SASHA national executive committee and is excited to be part of the Education Portfolio.

Dr Craig Geoff Howes
Dr Craig Geoff Howes (he/him) is a general and palliative care practitioner consulting across Cape Town, the West Coast, and Johannesburg. Geoff is passionate about mental, sexual, and gender-affirming healthcare and previously ran a dedicated practice for this work. He continues to provide inclusive, affirming care in his current work.
Geoff earned his medical degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and holds qualifications in emergency and palliative medicine. Most recently, he completed a Master of Science with distinction at the University of Glasgow, focusing on improving healthcare for vulnerable communities, particularly queer-identifying individuals.
In addition to his clinical work, Geoff is an educator and advocate for inclusive healthcare, regularly presenting on healthcare accessibility and supporting professionals in delivering compassionate, person-centred care.

Dr Elna Rudolph
Dr Elna Rudolph is a Medical Doctor and Sexologist working exclusively in the field of Sexual Medicine. She attained a Higher Diploma in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine through the Colleges of Medicine in South Africa, and a Master’s Degree in Sexual Health through the University of Sydney, Australia. She is also a Fellow of the European Committee for Sexual Medicine.
She is the Clinical Head of My Sexual Health and the Sexology Training Club.
Dr Rudolph is the President of the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS).

Dr Welly den Hollander
Dr Welly den Hollander (she/her) is a medical social worker in private practice in Pietermaritzburg and Hillcrest. She obtained a Masters degree and PhD in Social Work from UKZN and a PG Diploma in Palliative Medicine from UCT. She specializes in psycho-oncology and is part of palliative face to face and virtual MDTs. Welly is the chair of the SA Oncology Social Worker Forum (SAOSWF) and a member of PALPRAC.
Her interests are in mental health, trauma, pain management and sexology. She is an executive team member of SASHA as well as a member of My Sexual Health and is currently enrolled in the My Sexual Health sexology courses. Welly attended the SASHA meetings at the Ethekwini hospital in Durban in the past.
She stays with her husband on a small holding in Cato Ridge and organizes expressive arts and horticultural small group projects in her studio and garden nursery.
