Masterclass: Meeting Bodies Where They Are: Disability & Sexual Pleasure
Sexual pleasure is part of the richness of our lives. It is about the connection to touch, taste, sight, hearing, smell, movement and proprioception namely, sensations and abilities that can be affected by many medical conditions.
Medical practitioners need to be cognizant of the ways in which disability can affect sexual esteem, satisfaction and behaviour. It is important for health practitioners to examine their own understandings of pleasure, to enhance their own capacity to meet patients where they are in their bodies, and to work collaboratively with patients to realise pleasure potential.
This masterclass is an opportunity for those who work in sexual health to delve into contemporary understandings and the medical management of sexual pleasure and intimacy for people living with different kinds of disabilities.
